Summary: Chalga has made its way into the spotlight for music listened by the people of Bulgaria. Chalga is created by the combination of upbeat dance rhythms and vulgar lyrics. Though this style of music isn't highly appreciated by most, it continues to thrive as a successful business. Many people believe this taste of music will reflect into the adolescents of this generation negatively. However, even those who are unsupportive of chalga continue to go to concerts, parties, and dances listening to this style as a claim there is nothing else to do. As more and more money is put into chalga, it will continue to thrive and continue to alter the youths actions.
Thoughts/Emotion/Observations: I feel that chalga can easily be related to the popular music style here in the United States. Our popular music is explict and presents forth inappropriate ideas to send to the youth of our country. Chances are, our type of vulgar music has diffused into other countries such as Bulgaria and altered their popular music as well. Though this "bad" music isn't a good thing to raise the next generation on, I don't believe it will stop thriving as it is in the popular stage and everyone revolves their lives around it.
Cultural Ties: This article shows how the music of Bulgaria is changing. What used to be traditional, pleasant music that positively affects the youngest generation is now vulgar and making a negative impact. This practice shows how the culture of music in many cultures, not only Bulgaria, needs to be fixed. Though popular music makes money which is good for in the moment, this inappropriate music is badly influencing the youth. The music for our youth will end up hurting the people of Bulgaria more in the long run then the money will currently make a positive impact.
