Summary: Due to a bloody suicide bombing in Chad's capital, Muslims have divided and the government has came up with a solution to promote an anti-terror strategy. The government has placed an act to ban the wearing of burqas, or any clothing only showing the eyes. The people have had mixed emotions on the event as Muslims make up 53% of Chad's population. Some believe their is no requirement anywhere in the Quran making the dress of burqas needed and these head dresses aren't a piece of Chadian culture. Others think that the attacks aren't linked to the wearing of these garments as they have evolved into a customary form of dress for Chadians. Regardless, the government plans to get rid of burqas in market and elsewhere to prevent more damage they believe to come from Boko Haram.
Thoughts/Emotion/Observations: I believe that wearing a burqa or any covering is in no association to the fact of being a terrorist. Eliminating a type of dress will in no way stop attacks and lead Chad to a solution. A terrorist can look anyway, so the elimination of this head garment will just upset their population and cause more chaos. I agree that burqas are not directly linked to Chadian culture, but they are linked to the majorities religion. Those and all people should have the right to express their religion through their dress without the fear they will be recognized as a terrorist.
Cultural Ties: This article ties to Chad's culture because it shows how the major religion from a country is being frowned upon because of their dress supposedly linked to terrorism. Chad is displaying how the government has control over their peoples culture and can prevent certain showcases of ones one culture. The government is preventing the majority of their people from representing their religion, a very important religious concept.
